- Amending Species at Risk Act to improve protection for endangered species and their habitats in Canada.
Policies or Program
- International Relations: discourage efforts by Canada to overturn seal product bans or open new markets for seal products. Encourage efforts by Canada to increase funding and support for wildlife conservation and endangered species protection, particularly in Africa and Asia
- Marine Mammal Protection: encourage the Federal Government to create new or amend existing policy, legislation or regulation to ensure Canada's commercial seal hunt is properly managed by government agencies, or stopped. Advocate for a federal buyout of commercial sealing licences.
- Provide information on scientific and public opposition, and non-lethal alternatives, to proposals to cull predators in wild ecosystems, including the grey seal population in Atlantic Canada.

Description of the organization's activities
IFAW is a non-for-profit international animal welfare organization with a head office in the US and branches in Europe, Asia and Africa. IFAW is involved with all issues of animal welfare from the protection of individual animals to the conservation of species. Current campaigns concern seals, whales, wildlife trade and domestic animals.
