• Canadian Standards Association (CSA) proposal for Grant and Contribution agreement pertaining to the provision of project management support activity for the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Working Group on Marine Energy Terminology

Grant, Contribution or Other Financial Benefit, Policies or Program

• Advancing standards development to protect against the effects of climate change.
• Advocating for the federal government to support standards development to support municipalities, by encouraging their implementation of standards related to flood mitigation and resilient infrastructure, to protect their citizens and infrastructure from flood-related impacts and damage.
• CSA Group’s standards and research support the transition to bioeconomy by setting requirements and guidance across the whole landscape - from sustainable biomass supply chain through safety and performance of conversion technologies to bio-based products, their use, and end-of-life management, including the disposal, recycling, and repurposing.
• CSA continues to advocate for the government to support standards development activities through funding and participation, and by incorporating standards by reference in federal regulations and tying funding programs to the use of standards.
• CSA offers comprehensive standards-based training and is exploring further opportunities for government funding to support our current education and training programs. As well as new areas we could offer training for the implementation of standards.
• Canadian Standards Association has proposed funding needs to Natural Resources Canada for the development of Electric Standards in line with the Roadmap for the Introduction of Electric Vehicles to the Canadian Market.
• Discussed the adoption and implementation of an energy management standard with Natural Resources Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada.
• Discussion with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) with regard to the negotiation of funding amounts for a Contribution Agreement between Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and CNSC. Funding is being provided in respect of the development and maintenance of nuclear standards in the CSA Nuclear Program.
• Email and phone discussions with a representative of CanmetENERGY (Natural Resources Canada) regarding financial support from Natural Resources Canada for the purpose of updating the NGV (Natural Gas Vehicle) Design and Installation Codes, specifically, B108 and B109, in support of Natural Resources Canada's Natural Gas Vehicle Implementation Plan.
• Funding for CSA's Support Activities to Natural Resources Canada on the Development of a Marine Energy Terminology Standard.
• Participating in the pre-budget consultation processes and making submissions to the government and advocating for funding of CSA national standards.

• Discussion with a representative of Canadian Energy Regulator regarding the possible development of standards related to shale gas fracking and pipeline damage.
• Discussions with government offices with respect to standards-based solutions in key policy areas including long-term care (LTC) in Canada., climate change adaption, disability and inclusion, and infrastructure development.
• Meeting with Canada Post to discuss certification requirements and approved manufacturing plants for the production of concrete work and products.
• Small modular reactors; support for legislative inclusion of standards at the provincial level or inclusion of CSA standards within a program offered by PrairiesCan.
