PACICC'S MANDATE IS TO RESPOND TO AND PAY CLAIMS OF POLICYHOLDERS AND CLAIMANTS UNDER MOST POLICIES ISSUED BY P&C INSURANCE COMPANIES IN THE EVENT OF AN INSOLVENCY OR BANKRUPTCY OF THE ISSUING P&C INSURANCE COMPANY, TO A LIMIT OF $250,000 FOR LOSSES ARISING FROM A SINGLE OCCURRENCE, AND TO REFUND 70% OF A CLAIM FOR UNEARNED PREMIUM UP TO A MAXIMUM UNEARNED PREMIUM OF $1000 I.E. THE MAXIMUM PAYMENT WOULD BE $700.
