Bill or Resolution 1) Bill C-39: An Act to amend the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act and to enact An Act respecting the provision of funding for diagnostic and medical equipment, amends the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act to give effect to the 2004 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care, and increases the Canada Health Transfer for the fiscal years beginning on April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2014. The bill also establishes a Wait Times Reduction Transfer, and provides funding to provinces for diagnostic and medical equipment.2) Bill C-12, the new Quarantine Act, is intended to prevent the introduction and spread of a communicable disease arriving in or departing from Canada. It is designed to complement existing provincial and territorial public health legislation and to enable Canada to meet its obligations under the International Health Regulations. CHA sent a letter to the Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health, expressing support of this bill.
