- Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's (AAFC) Growing Forward II Program, developed to optimize collective national investments by governments, academia and industry in facilities, equipment, skilled researchers and project funding in support of the agricultural, agri-food and agri-based products sector. CFI has been monitoring the implementation of this program to be sure it does not hinder our farming customers
- Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Accord (APEC),
to enhance economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. The APEC-Sub-committee on Standards and Conformance works to eliminate trade distortions arising through domestic regulations and standardization activities.
- Changes to Food Security Program to support strategic, evidence-based decision making in the management of Canada's food system and the promotion of food safety, nutrition and healthy eating in Canada.
- Changes to the Canadian Corporate Taxation System in order to ensure a fair and equitable taxation in the manfacturing sector
- Changes to the Canadian Environmental Protection Policy to develop an aggressive strategy to tackle climate change and its impact on the environment.

- The Ammonium Nitrate Program Review and Audit is to ensure sales of Ammonuium Nitrate do not fall into the wrong hands. As Ammonium Nitrate can be used as an explosive, the Canadian Fertilizer Institute wants to ensure purchasers of the product are not criminals seeking to do harm.

- Amendments to the Restricted Components Regulations in repsect to public safety and security in the handling of explosive precursors in order to reduce risk of criminal acts.

Description of the organization's activities
THE CANADIAN FERTILIZER INSITUTE (CFI) REPRESENTS FERTILIZER MANUFACTURERS AND WHOLESALE AND RETAIL DISTRIBUTORS. CFI AIMS TO SUPPORT THE INDUSTRY'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUPPLY OF SAFE AND NUTRITIOUS FOOD. WE PROMOTE THE SUSTAINABLE AND SAFE PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION AND USE OF FERTILIZERS. CFI HAS 37 ACTIVE MEMBERS AND 24 ASSOCIATE AND AFFILIATE MEMBERS. THE ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS THAT ARE FOCUSED ON EFFICIENT USE OF FERTILIZERS. CFI BELIEVES THAT BY FOCUSING ON THE RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION AND USE OF FERTILIZER, AND NOURISHING THE SOIL, THE FERTILIZER INDUSTRY WILL MAKE A VALUABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUSTAINABILITY OF WORLD FOOD PRODUCTION.
