Description of the organization's activities: | THE CANADIAN CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIATION REPRESENTS THE INTERESTS OF OVER 100,000 FARMERS AND RANCHERS AND PROMOTES THE EQUITABLE AND ECONOMIC W ELFARE OF ALL PHASES OF THE BEEF INDUSTRY. IT ENCOURAGES THE ENACTMENT AND ENFORCEMENT OF LEGISLATION THAT IS DEEMED TO BE OF INTEREST TO TH E BEEF CATTLE INDUSTRY AND OPPOSES LEGISLATION OR GOVERNMENT ACTIVITIE S THAT IS CONTRARY TO THOSE INTERESTS. THE ORGANIZATION ENCOURAGES RES EARCH IN THE AREAS OF BEEF PRODUCTION AND MARKETING. IT PROMOTES THE P OPULARITY OF BEEF AS A FOOD BY CREATING A BETTER UNDERSTANDING AMONG C ONSUMERS. THE CCA COOPERATES WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE OBJECTIVES ARE SIMILAR IN WHOLE OR IN PART TO THOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION. |
Organization's membership or classes of membership: | MEMBERSHIP IN THE CANADIAN CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIATION IS LIMITED TO ONE C ATTLE OR BEEF PRODUCER ORGANIZATION WITHIN EACH PROVINCE OF CANADA. TH E NUMBER OF DIRECTORS FROM EACH PROVINCE IS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF CAT TLE MARKETED WITHIN THAT PROVINCE. EACH PROVINCE PAYS A MEMBERSHIP FEE BASED ON THE NUMBER OF CATTLE MARKETED WITHIN THEIR JURISDICTION. AT PRESENT ALL PROVINCES, EXCEPT QUEBEC AND NEWFOUNDLAND ARE MEMBERS OF T HE CCA. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO ALLOWS FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP IN THE OR GANIZATION BUT ASSOCIATE MEMBERS DO NOT HAVE VOTING PRIVILAGES. |
