Description of the organization's activities
The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (formerly the Canadian Chemical Producers’ Association (CCPA)), founded in 1962 and renamed in 2009, has a membership of over 45 companies, is an association of chemistry industry leaders commited to sustainability through Responsible Care. The mission of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada is to create value for its members by providing information, policy analysis, advocacy, partnerships and collective initiateves. With members and partners, the association works together to promote the growth and development of all phases of the Canadian industry to be the most environmentally, socially and economically succesful group of companies in the world. Our mission is to create a positive business environment for investment and growth in Canada’s value added chemistry companies; and through world class companies working together as leaders in Responsible Care, create value for our economy and provide solutions to the environmental, health and economic challenges facing Canadians.

Formal commitment to the principles and codes of practice of Responsible Care® is a condition of membership. Companies handling chemicals but not otherwise eligible for membership may participate in Responsible Care® as partner companies.
