The Senate. I conducted a study to maximize the environmental aspects of their day to day activities with regard to printing and publishing. I analyzed the paper stocks used, the operation of their printing installation and the specifications used in the tendering process. The actual publications were studied with the goal of establishing parameters for design of the products that would provide for minimal environmental impact.

The House of Commons. I was contracted to study the printing, publishing and reprographic aspects of the House of Commons as a prelude to their plans to obtain ECOLOGO certification. I reviewed procedures for procurement, paper usage, printing practices, published products and activities in the in-house reprographic operation. Definitions were provided with regard to environmental terms for the print plant staff to operate in an environmental atmosphere. A set of recommendations ere provided to increase environmental awareness and to establish a foundation for future environmental programmes. This became a part of the A Greening the Hill A project.

2004

Health Canada. All activities of the departments printing and publishing operation were analyzed. The information provided was to form part of an operations manual for the procurement of environmental products. Specifications were established for the procurement of recycled paper products, design guidelines were provided and inventory policies were reviewed.
