Description of the organization's activities
Unifor aims to unite all of the workers under its jurisdiction into one organizaiton without regard to race, sex, creed, colour, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, political or religious affiliation, or place of national origin; to improve working conditions and create a uniform system of shorter hours and wages; to end occupational injury and disease, and improve conditions to create safe and healthy workplaces; to encourage members to take part in political action; to promote ideas and candidates that advance the rights of workers; and to provide assistance, within Canada as well as throughout the world, to labour and other organizations.

Unifor is Canada's largest private sector trade union. It represents workers in a broad range of Canadian services and industries, including automobile, parts production, assembly, aerospace manufacturing and assembly, health care, retail, education, telecommunications, electronics, air, rail, road, marine transportation as well as the mining, fisheries and transportation sectors. Over a third of the union's members are women, approximately half of the membership of Unifor reside in Ontario.
