| Description des activités de l'organisation : | BIOCAP has announced that it will close its doors and cease operations on March 31, 2008, when the Foundation completes its outstanding deliverables on existing agreements. Despite a lengthy and exhaustive campaign by staff and board members, the Foundation was unable to secure the long-term funding necessary to continue to deliver on its mandate to find biological solutions to climate change and clean energy in Canada. ¿As we come up to the final chapter for BIOCAP, we need to remember its fine achievements,¿ said Bob Page, BIOCAP Board Chair. ¿BIOCAP has been the catalyst for unique research, the promoter of important policy options, and the science for investment decisions. We were also one of the few truly national partnerships in the area of climate change.¿ Following its inception in 1998, BIOCAP became a nationally and internationally recognized leader in building multi-sector partnerships and delivering scientific insights and new technologies to aid the transition to a bioeconomy. BIOCAP also leveraged approximately $50 million to support hundreds of government and university researchers across the country, and helped numerous companies address the challenges and opportunities associated with greenhouse gas management and renewable energy. David Layzell, CEO of BIOCAP said, ¿We are proud of BIOCAP's successes. Although the work that we've begun is far from finished, we have laid an excellent foundation that others can continue to build on.¿ | ||||||
