The Policy on Green Procurement supports the Government of Canada’s effort to promote environmental stewardship. In keeping with the objectives of the policy, we support sustainable development by integrating environmental performance considerations into the procurement decision-making process through the actions described in the 2019 to 2022 FSDS “Greening Government” goal.

Integrating sustainable development

We are committed to integrate sustainability into our internal policy and operational processes.

Our office will study and adopt, where possible, best practices identified in sustainability impact assessments undertaken by other organizations in relation to corporate policies, procedures, and decision-making.

In practical terms, we have implemented and will continue to sustain the following:

  • use of reusable dishes and cutlery in the office kitchen and for meetings
  • give preference to hospitality suppliers offering reusable and compostable items
  • use of a water dispenser in the office to support the use of refillable water bottles
  • mobile technology tools to enable telework arrangements and paperless meetings
  • priority use of greener transportation options when possible (public transit, trains, etc.)
