- Bill C-23 (An Act to amend the Canada Marine Act):, letter to the Minister of Transport in support of the Bill (with copy to Joseph Volpe, Liberal Critic for Transport, Btian Masse, NDP Critic for Transport, and Robert Carrier, Bloc Quebecois critic for Transport), briefs to the House and Senate Committees in support of the Act and its swift passage.
- Bill C-4 (An Act to Amend the Pilotage Act): letters to the Minister in support of the Act, and in response to allegations regarding C-4 as a threat to marine safety and marine environment.

THE SHIPPING FEDERATION OF CANADA, EST. BY AN ACT OF PARLIAMENT IN 1903, REPRESENTS THE OWNERS, OPERATORS, CHARTERERS & AGENTS OF VESSELS ENGAGED IN CANADA'S OVERSEAS TRADE. THE FEDERATION HAS A MEMBERSHIP OF 70 COMPANIES WHICH OPERATE OR ACT AS AGENTS FOR MORE THAN 300 STEAMSHIP LINES,THE FEDERATION REPRESENTS 95% OF OCEAN VESSELS TRADING TO AND FROM PORTS IN ATLANTIC CANADA. THE VESSELS REPRESENTED BY OUR MEMBERS TRANSPORT VIRTUALLY ALL OF THE COMMERCE MOVING BETWEEN EASTERN CANADA & PORTS OVERSEAS. THE MANDATE OF THE FEDERATION IS TO PROTECT THE INTERESTS OF ITS MEMBERS ON ALL MATTERS AFFECTING THE OPERATION OF INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.
