- To engage official with regard to Bill C-249, the Encouraging Growth of the Cryptoasset Sector Act. We are educating MPs and regulators on the crypto industry and specifically why bitcoin, is a unique asset class. We are providing input and feedback to any questions people have on the sector, how it impacts Canadians, and what we are doing as Shakepay to ensure that customer protection is at the forefront.

Description of activities
Shakepay is a Montreal-based technology company that was founded in 2015. We are a registered Money Service Business with FINTRAC and Revenue Quebec, as well as the first Quebec based CTP to become registered as a Restricted Dealer. We offer a web and mobile app that allows Canadians to buy, earn, and interact with Bitcoin. Today, we service over 1 million Canadian customers and are exclusive to Canada. We are building safe, reliable and easy to use products that allow Canadians to adopt this new technology with a trusted, locally-grown platform. Part of the adoption process involves educating policymakers on what this technology is and how to draft sensible regulation in such a way that protects consumers while incentivizing growth and economic development in our country.
