• Bill C-227 An Act to amend the Income Tax Act for qualified tradespersons with respect to how travel expenses are included / excluded in taxable income.
• Continuation of seperate employment insurance account - Employment Insurance Act Our specific interest is as follows - Funds collected from employment insurance contributinos do not flow into the consolidated revenue fund of the Government of Canada to be used for deficit repayment or other ad hoc spending
• EMPLOYMENT INSURANCE ACT working with Human Resources skills development on insurable hours, benefit delivery and the qualification requirements for employment insurance
• Employment Insurance Act Composition of the Board of Directors. Our organization is interested in this to ensure the construction industry is duly represented on the Board.
• FAIR WAGE AND HOURS OF LABOUR ACT Working with the Labour program at Human resources and skills development to ensure Fair Wage act is accurate timely ect. Specifically, information provision and proposals for a mechanism to improve information sharing for Fair Wage purposes

• IMMIGRATION AND REFUGEE PROTECTION ACT Particularily the Temporary Foreign Worker process and the relevant regulations Class determinants for immigration purpses "Family, Economic ...and working to ensure a policy favourable to construction exists

Policies or Program

• A Pilot program aimed at testing the feasibility / applicability of labour mobility between areas of higher unemployment and labour shortages. This pilot program would grant favoured tax status (as outlined in Bill C-227) to pilot participants travelling to obtain full time employment in a trade deemed to be experiencing labour shortages.
• Apprenticeship & Training Human Resources and Skills Development and the Red Seal Secretariat to continue to promote and use the Red Seal Program Assist with National Occupational Compentencies analysis for various trades and occupations as at the request of Human Resources and Skills Development
• Economic Action Plan Knowledge Infrastructure Program - working to ensure our training centres are eligible / qualify for Knowledge Infrastructure program
• Foreign Worker Program, Language requirements for Temporary Foreign Worker program applicants. Also working with departments on innapropriate uses of Temporary foreign workers ...and working to ensure these workers are paid the same as Candian workers (wages, benefits )
• Helmets to HardHats Canada An intitiative to assist veterans when returning from active military duty to transition them to a career in the construction industry. Veterans Affairs and Department of National Defense Transition Assistance Program
• Sector Council Program, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada Continuation of SectorCouncil activities and working with them to deliver LMI for our industry Encourgae Human Resources and Skills Development Canada to increase and maintain funding for this initiative We are not seeking funding but encouraging government to expand the sector council program
